Overview:

After the success of the Scissorback, the Republic of Minnesota continued with the rest of the omnimech program, producing a medium, a heavy, and an assault omnimech. The Trooper was to be their workhouse medium omnimech.

Capabilities:

Many different combinations of speed, armor, and tonnage weight were considered before the designers settled on the 55 tonner with a maximum speed of 86.4 kph and 8.5 tons of ferrofibrous armor.
The Trooper therefore has 21 tons of pod space available, almost half of its weight, an impressive piece of desgning considering that it did not utilize an extra light engine to save up on tonnage.
The primary configuration has a hardhitting loadout, meant to smash down enemy armor units and mechs with the gauss rifle, and a deadly array of extended range medium lasers.
The alpha configuration is equipped with two large missile racks, along with some backup lasers. This is a fire support version.
The beta configuration has two extended range PPCs, as well as the heat sink capacity to use them. However, only a small streak rack provides up close firepower.
Gamma variant is a close combat unit, with jump jets and pulse lasers. However, it lacks sufficient anti infantry weapons, which would be handled by the Delta configuration, with its machine guns, flamers, and streak missiles.
The final configuration, Epsilon, has only appeared recently in ROMAF forces, using the new rotary autocannons brought by the MIB. Paired with a large laser, this version is a deadly mech hunter.

Battle History:

The Trooper has been the standard medium mech of ROMAF for the past hundred years. It has been involved in almost all the key battles with the Sewshan Empire since its debut. However, the most famous battle came in 2926 on Emsay, where the Trooper first appeared.
Bogged down in furious slugging matches with hordes of Sewshan armor and infantry, the standard mechs of the ROMAF attack force were slowly whittled down as the Sewshand used air unit, ground armor, or infantry against specific units geared for particular combat roles, forcing them into engagements for which their weapons were singularly unsuitable for.
The arrival of a veteran regiment, equipped with Scissorback and Trooper mechs, would turn the tide.
The Troopers were first decked out with LBX autocannons to defend against aerospace attacks. The Sewshan sent their fighters in, and suffered grevious losses. No matter, they thought they had the measure of the new enemy design, and sent infantry and tanks to destory the anti aircraft unit. To their dismay, the Troopers were reconfigured with machine guns, infernos, and flamers.
The massacre wrecked the Sewshan defense forces. A year later, ROMAF claimed complete control of Emsay.

Notable 'Mechs & MechWarriors:

Star Colonel Etienne Rogers
One of the best warriors in Clan Wolverine, Rogers earned his bloodname at the age of 24, defeating more experienced warriors en route to his bloodname.
One of the more outspoken members of the clan touman, Rogers frequently agitates for their return to the clans or the Inner Sphere by contacting the Wolves in Exile or the Nova Cats. He feels that the Wolverines are strong enough to withstand any attempt at Annihilation by another clan, and that they should return to clan society as a stabilising force.

Deployment

Troopers comprise almost 95% of all ROMAF medium mechs. Even militia units deploy the design, and the image of a Trooper is one of the hallmarks of ROMAF.
