With the Marik Civil War in full swing, Irian Battlemechs Unlimited found itself in the unique situation of being a resource that all factions were willing to fight over but not destroy.
After brokering a short deal with the planetary government, IBU made an arrangement with any and all would be conquerors. First, they would not damage the factories. Second, they would also not garrison the factories. Third, any attacker would be fought away from the factory grounds. In exchange for these terms, IBU would willingly sell mechs to whoever was in control of the world at a discount.
Meanwhile, their product division came up with a cheap and affordable mech that could be readily incorporated in the various mech factions. It was named the Hector.

The Hector seems undergunned by modern standards, but the mech itself was never meant to be a frontline combatant in the mold of more expensive and capable designs.
Armed with a Imperator light gauss rifle, the Hector can snipe all day at opponents with near impunity. While the light gauss rifle does not have the same incredible damage rating as a normal gauss rifle, it has much better range and higher ammo efficiency.
Two ER medium lasers serve as backup weaponry for the Hector, but the best tactic for the Hector was to retreat when the ammunition for the gauss runs out.

Hectors were mostly deployed to Duchy of Oriente and Marik Commonwealth units, the two factions in the civil war that had managed to claim Irian for the longest periods of time.
