Overview:

Hawkings Consortium, after getting hold of the extensive manufacturing plants on Einstein, proceeded to produce their second mech, the Gorgon, a medium mech designed for close combat. The first run went to the Mercs in Black, whose use of the mech in the jihad spurred interest from all over the Inner Sphere.

Capabilities:

The Gorgon was designed as a close combat unit, with the speed and armor to get in and deliver hard strikes with its hatchet and its medium lasers. The jump jets offer it incredible mobility, with jump capablity in excess of 200 meters.
The triple medium laser mount on the left arm proved to be extremely troublesome, as the intense heat from all three weapons had a severe tendency to melt the joints and myomer structure.
The problem was solved by studies of similar arm joints in Black Hawks and Komodos. It turned out that a special alloying material with high heat conductivity was required to siphon the heat away from the lasers into the heat sinks.

Variants:

Two variants of the Gorgon were proposed. One consisted of replacing one medium laser for a C3 slave unit.
The other, more radical change, stripped away the jump jets and all the weaponry for a C3 master unit, and a ER large laser. The result is one of the lightest command mechs in existence.

Sergeant Chris Murray
A warrior in the mercenary Mercs in Black, Murray has racked up an incredible number of kills in his Gorgon during the jihad. He has over twenty kills, most of them Word of Blake medium mechs.
In line for a promotion, Murray is eager to show his superiors more of what he could do with the Gorgon.

Deployment

Gorgons have been sold to any interested party, which is practically the entire Inner Sphere. They are fast becoming the medium strike mech of choice in mercenary units.
