Overview:

Clan Cloud Cobra designed the Death Mamba as a cheap and effective omnimech in an effort to expand their touman.
After designing the mech, they realized they did not have enough factory space to assemble all the components, and they also needed electronics for their mechs.
Clans Star Adder and Steel Viper stepped in to help, and in recognition of the common thematic bond between the three clans, the Cloud Cobras named the new mech the Death Mamba. In the light of this development, it seems the Cloud Cobras and the Steel Vipers have agreed to put their feud to rest.

Capabilities:

The designers of the Death Mamba eschewed the XL engine for cost reasons, choosing other means to reduce weight. While not entirely successful, the resulting design was moderately priced, and did not place too much of a drain on their resources.
The primary configuration has a varied weapons loadout, geared towards rapid response in all situations.
The alpha configuration is a fire support vehicle. In an unique move, ATMs were used instead of LRMs, which lent the variant a further increase in versatility.
The beta config is a mech hunter with excellent striking power. Based on the successful Pack Hunter design, it mounts an ER PPC and a full array of jump jets. The armor and speed of the beta config has made it a favorite of mech hunters.
The final variant is a city fighting machine, with pulse lasers, machine guns, and flamers to destroy opposing infantry.

Deployment

Death Mambas have been distributed to less prestigious frontline units in each of the three clans as they work the new mech through its paces. It is unlikely the Death Mamba will ever be accepted fully as a frontline combat mech, with its lack of pod space, but even the ability to reconfigure their mechs may prompt garrison units to clamor for the new model.
