One of Frank Meronac's first acts on returning to Einstein was to give up his heavy Night Gyr omnimech for a more mobile medium mech. While his decision at the time was inexplicable, he asked for his new ride to be fast, had a long range punch, and a state of the art C3 suite. Nobody knew why he wanted it to be so, but the Camelot command mech was the result.
The Camelot is equipped with an expensive Core Tek XL engine that enables it to reach more than 90 kph, and more than 110 kph with the mech running hot and the triple strength myomers activated.
A Particle Heavy Burst ER PPC can worry opponents at any distance, while three ER medium lasers provide close up striking power. Three almost superfluous small lasers round out the mech's offensive capabilities, with more than 11 tons of armor as protection.
The most important piece of equipment on the Camelot, however, was the C3 master computer in the right torso, mandated by Meronac. It allows any mech commander to coordinate his attacks with his lancemates, and also to plan and track the movements of up to an entire regiment of mechs.
Nobody knew what was going through Meronac's mind when he gave up his cutting edge Night Gyr for the Camelot, but everybody got a glimpse of his reasons during the jihad.
Instead of wading into the thick of every skirmish, as most commanders are wont to do, Meronac stayed at long range constantly, sparring with his ER PPC and placing a greater emphasis on deploying his units. Moving from location to location with the Camelot's superior mobility, coupled with the task handling ability of the C3 computer, enabled him to locate enemy weaknesses at least three times throughout the campaign and direct his troops at these points, all of which led to decisive routs for the Blakist forces.
A sepcial version with clan technology is rumored to be Meronac's ride. Swapping out all the weapons for clan versions, it is an extremely dangerous long range combatant.
General Frank Meronac
Just three years ago, Frank Meronac was only an out of work doctor heading to Outreach to seek his fortune.
Then he got involved in the Einstein incident, and ended up as a key player in the formation of the MIB. Later on he was to end up on Terra, fighting against the Word of Blake.
Eventually he made his way offworld, where he made plans for the counter offensive against the jihad that was to prove so effective in early 3070.
Moving his troops like a chess master, Meronac has been lauded as the second coming of Duke Wellington, a strategic and tactical genius without peer. It remains to be seen if he is truly worthy of acclaim.
An extremely capable leader and mechwarrior, he looks to be a major player in the Inner Sphere in the future.
Camelots are deployed with many units after its strong showing in the Liberation of Terra. Used mostly by battalion and regimental commanders, the mech has set a new paradigm for battlefield command.
