- Overview:
Hawkings Consortium created the Typhon, named after the mighty and hideous beast of Greek mythology, as a command mech similar to the Tai-Sho. Just as the mythical creature had many serpent heads, the mech itself has two C3 command masters to coordinate the attacks of an entire company, and can even command up to a full brigade of troops with little difficulty.
- Capabilities:
The space taken up by the C3 systems could have decreased the Typhon's firepower, but the designers managed to do an admirable job of juggling the various weapons to arrive at an optimal mix.
The Typhon's main weaponry are a Magneto Slugger gauss rifle and a Particle Ultra Burst ER PPC, along with a Doomflower LRM rack slaved to an artemis fire control system for additonal damage.
Using the C3 system, the Typhon can virtually guarantee hits with all its main guns. When teamed with other Hawkings produced C3 system mechs like the Redcoat, King Crab, or champion, the Typhon becomes a truly terrifying foe.
- Notable 'Mechs & MechWarriors:
Colonel Robert Feehan
Once the commanding officer of Wolverton's Highlanders, Feehan lost in an audacious gambit to destroy Archer Christifori and Rhonda Snord's Irregulars. Disgraced and imprisoned by the Dragoons on Outreach for breaching his contract and improper conduct for a mercenary, Feehan joined another merc unit when he was released.
During the vicious fighting on Einstein against the Jade Falcons, Feehan finally regained some of what he lost as he backed Ian Calderon and Frank Meronac in their successful plan. Later on, he would gain back even more as he fought against the Word of Blake jihad.
Handed command of the MIB on Einstein, Feehan is determined never to do anything that might cause him disgrace again. He acts as the unit's conscience, and his Typhon 'Serpent's Tooth', serves as a stark reminder to him of the dangers of deceit.
- Deployment
Typhons are common within the MIB, and also within the Com Guards and the Star League Defense Force. Serving as company, battalion, and regimental command mechs, Typhons are becoming syonymous with elite commanding officers.
